Batch processors are great for automating repetitive tasks like emailing todo lists, producing periodic reports, invoicing, etc.

With Servoy, batch processors are easy to set up by following these steps:

Create a solution with a startup method that creates the timers (cronjobs).
Activate the solution on the Servoy server.
Sit back and watch your methods being triggered by your timers.

Servoy to Speak at Inauguration Session of EuroCloud - Feb. 4

EuroCloud NL is a new foundation with a European focus on cloud computing and SaaS (Software as a Service). Jan Aleman, Servoy CEO, is honored to have been asked to join the board as Secretary of this foundation. At the inauguration session, several topics will be discussed including the goals of this new foundation. Mr. Aleman will present the results of the SaaS Survey of Softletter. Softletter’s SaaS survey is the industry’s most comprehensive SaaS research among ISVs (Independent Software Vendors).

Servoy Opens New Office in Zurich for Germany-Austria-Switzerland

Servoy proudly announces the opening of its new office in Zurich, Switzerland as of January 1, 2010. Jan Aleman, Servoy CEO, says: “We believe that local presence is very important for our fast growing German-speaking Servoy community in Germany, Austria and Switzerland (DACH). Our strategy to grow internationally is further strengthened with this office, and we will continue to open more local offices throughout 2010.” The Servoy activities in the DACH countries will be managed by Mr Geert Houben ghouben@servoy.com.

Servoy and Softwear to Speak at ICT-Office - Jan. 20

Servoy and Softwear will present a session on “How to transform to SaaS” on January 20th at ICT-Office. ICT-Office unites over 500 companies in the Dutch IT, Telecom, Office and Internet sectors. With a turnover of 30 billion Euro and well over 250,000 employees, these companies represent more than 80% of the total IT, Telecom, Office and Internet market in the Netherlands.

Jan Aleman, Servoy CEO and a member of the steering comittee of the SaaS-Cloud division within ICT-Office, will discuss the steps an ISV has to go through to make the switch to SaaS with a focus on the technical aspects. Happy New Year!

First of all we would like to wish everybody a Happy New Year. Despite the challenges of last year, we keep expanding and closed the year with positive results. We are excited about 2010, not just because of the uptick in sales activity that we have personally seen over the last 5 months, but also because of the general economic indicators looking strong (stock exchange is always 12-24 months ahead of the real economy). We believe this will continue.

In this newsletter, you will find some interesting news about Servoy. We are increasingly asked for our opinion as a visionary in the software industry and especially in cloud computing. We are now on the board of two major SaaS organizations — EuroCloud and ICT-Office SaaS-Cloud, and we conduct sessions, as well as keynoting at SaaS University Conference this year. Also, we continue to be quoted in leading journals and publications around the world, including an cover story interview in InfoWorld.

All in all, we are excited about the software market and particularly the cloud computing movement. We believe that our “SaaS and Back” hybrid vision is the most viable solution for all business entering the cloud.
